Saltwater Shindig 2026 | Support The Promise School in Charleston
There is something we wish every child struggling in school could hear:
Struggling to learn does not mean you are not smart.
At The Promise School, we work with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and other language-based learning differences. Many arrive at our school having already spent years working harder than anyone realizes.
They have sat at kitchen tables fighting through homework.
They have watched classmates finish assignments before they do.
They have wondered why reading seems to come so easily to everyone else.
And far too often, they have begun believing the problem is them.
It is not.
When children are taught in a way that reflects how they actually learn, something powerful can happen. Skills begin to develop. Confidence begins to return. School starts feeling less like a daily reminder of what is difficult and more like a place where possibility exists.
That is the work The Promise School was created to do.
Join Us for the Saltwater Shindig
On Thursday, November 12 at 6 PM, our families, friends and Charleston community will come together for the Saltwater Shindig at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.
Yes, it is a fundraiser.
But to us, it represents something much bigger.
It represents the parents who kept looking for answers when they knew their child needed something different.
It represents the teachers who understand that a struggling reader may also be an extraordinarily creative thinker, problem solver, artist, builder, entrepreneur or future leader.
Most of all, it represents our students.
They are the reason we are asking our community to join us.
What Your Support Makes Possible
The goal of this year's Saltwater Shindig campaign is $100,000. Givebutter
Those dollars support the mission of The Promise School and our ability to provide an educational environment designed around the needs of students who learn differently.
Fundraising also gives people outside our school an opportunity to become part of something important.
You may not have a child with dyslexia.
You may not know one of our students personally.
But chances are very good that you know someone whose life has been touched by a learning difference.
Sometimes simply finding the right school, the right teacher or the right approach changes the entire direction of a child's education.
There Are Many Ways to Help
We would love to see you at the Saltwater Shindig.
But attending is only one way to support The Promise School.
You can make a donation. You can share the campaign with friends. You can send it to a family who might want to learn more about our school. You can tell a neighbor, colleague or Charleston business owner about what we are building.
Sometimes a simple share reaches exactly the person who needed to see it.
We Hope You'll Be Part of It
The Saltwater Shindig takes place Thursday, November 12 at 6 PM at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street in Charleston. Givebutter
